Acrylic, enamel paint, and paper (2024). For many fields, nature is an abundant source of inspiration and inquiry; it’s no surprise—we’re squarely in the middle of it while simultaneously being composed of it. My work aims to cross science and visual art to engage with the complexity, sensitivity, and scope of nature via an interdisciplinary investigation of the systems and structures that make up our reality through printmaking, painting, sculpture, and installation. The role of theorist and expirementor merge through alternative applications and performative processes of media in the tradition of fluxus art as well as the action painters of the New York School to illuminate how these structures operate and overlap at different scales of view. Emphasizing a cross-discipline practice reveals and mimics the universality of how nature organizes itself at the microscopic and macroscopic as well as uncovering alternate perspectives in which to perceive and depict nature.
